7.09 The political and economic risk card names an 'ESG Operating Committee' that appears nowhere else; every other page calls it the ESG Steering Committee
UK Company A · a UK-listed medical technology group · Drafting slip
In brief
The management actions for the political and economic principal risk say '[wording masked]'. The TCFD governance table and the other risk cards give that role to the ESG Steering Committee, and no ESG Operating Committee is described anywhere. The 2025 report repeats the same name in the same card.

What the report shows, and what the rule requires
| What the annual report shows | What the rule requires |
|---|---|
| What the annual report shows 2024 report p.86: '[wording masked]'. 2024 report p.69 and p.90: the ESG Steering Committee does this. 2025 report p.86: 'through our ESG Operating Committee'. | What the rule requires 'Our [wording masked] ...', matching the governance structure on p.69. |
Why it matters
A reader may think there is a second ESG committee in the governance structure.
Exposure
Drafting point; no statutory consequence.
Our workings
the political and economic risk card on p.86 names an ESG Operating Committee. The TCFD governance table on p.69 lists an ESG Steering Committee that supports the Executive Committee in executing the ESG strategy, and the global supply chain card on p.90 uses the same sentence with '[wording masked]'.
Management’s best defence, and our reply
The company could say an operating-level working group sits under the Steering Committee and the card refers to it informally. No such group is described in the governance structure, and the near-identical sentence on the supply chain card names the Steering Committee, so a one-word correction is the right answer.
The fix
- Replace 'ESG Operating Committee' with 'ESG Steering Committee' in the political and economic risk card.
